H.323 is the common protocol used to communicate over public network using traditional equipments.Hitcast allow to save the investment done on old and expensive technologies reusing H.323 device, equipped meeting room or conference center.Hitcast H.323 GW appear in the presence list and can be invited in an Hitcast event (meeting or conference).Once invited, the Hitcast H.323 GW ask for the remote H.323 endpoint TCP/IP address: all video coming from Hitcast client will be encoded in a single audio/video feed and sent over H.323 to the remote device. The audio/video coming from the H.323 device is converted in the Hitcast format and sent to the participants. In the image, one H.323 GW connect four remote H.323 device (via MCU) with other eleven Hitcast clients. This technology can be used in many situations and provide many advantages:
- Important events, provided for remote users over H.323 protocols (i.e. through an MCU) can be attended by users from remote using a simple PC running Hitcast client.
- Using Hitcast Light Client, public users unable to connect to an H.323 event, can be invited to participate using a simple PC.
- Large H.323 equipment can be reused connecting locally a Hitcast H.323 GW. In presence of a PTZ Camera with standard control interface, Hitcast GW is be able to connect the local camera and allow remote Hitcast users to control it (Pan, Tilt and Zoom).
Hitcast SIP GW enable a Hitcast platform to communicate with a standard SIP Proxy (normally a VOIP PBX like an Asterisk server).
The obtained result is the possibility to invite into a Hitcast event, VOIP devices or telephones accessible though the PBX.
An additional software component allow a easy and powerful integration between Hitcast Server and Microsoft Active Directory or a standard LDAP directory. The obtained effects are significant:
- Creating one or more dedicated groups into the directory, user belonging to that group are automatically configured into corresponding Hitcast groups
- Once authenticated by the AD, Windows users are automatically logged-in into the Hitcast platform (single sign on).
- Hitcast directory inherit every user configured details (phone number, department, address, ecc.).
